Following the extraordinary council meeting on 9th June 2021, Enfield's Labour Council have approved the Draft Regulation 18 Enfield Local Plan: 2019-3039.
This plan includes the redevelopment of the following retail spaces:
Should these sites be redeveloped, 1,000's of people might lose their jobs and will cause untold damage to our local community. We need assurances that these jobs will be retained throughout any redevelopment.
We must let our voices be heard and save the jobs of Enfield residents. Within Appendix C of the report the council even admits it will receive a compensation package payable from developers in the amount £3,500 per job lost. The council now has a strong incentive for hard working people to lose their jobs. This is a scandal and not acceptable.
A 12-week consultation that allowed for Enfield's residents to submit their comments to the Council has now ended but you are still able to voice your concerns to Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. michael.gove.mp@parliament.uk
